Every January, the world's top dancers gather in London for the United Kingdom Open Championships as one of three major dancesport championships in the world. Although it was her debut on international competitions this year, Jessie Li from Hangzhou won double champions for the 12-year-old single Latin and modern dance groups and became the runner-up of the 14-year-old modern dance group.
Recalling the moment when Jessie Li took the crown, Ms. Qiao (Li's mother) sighed with emotion: "When the host announced that the champion was won by Jessie Li from China, her teachers were more excited than I was because few Chinese were able to claim the title for the event. I was actually quite calm then. For me, as long as she tries her best in the performance, that's enough."
In fact, success comes from hard working. Jessie Li tried many kinds of sports like equestrian, artistic skating, rowing and gymnastics at an early age. After she has acquired the basic skills of dance, she began to learn dancesport. Teachers say that Li works hard and her parents are very supportive and accompany her to all kinds of competitions held all over the world.
