During the Spring Festival, Jiang Zhaozhao, an octogenarian from Shaoxing of Zhejiang and one of members of Chinese Team, participated in the 20th World Veteran Table Tennis Championships in Muscat as the capital of Oman, and won two gold medals.
The event kicked off in Muscat as the capital of Oman on January 16 (Beijing Time), and attracted more than 1,600 players from 69 countries and regions. Among them, six players of Chinese Veteran Team including Jiang Zhaozhao and Yang Jinliang took part in the event. After fierce competition, Jiang Zhaozhao and his teammates successively seized two champions of 70-year-old group of mixed doubles and 75-year-old group of men's doubles. On the occasion of ringing in the New Year, he drew a complete end to the Year of the Tiger with his steady performance.
In the eyes of Jiang Zhaozhao, the participation in the World Veteran Table Tennis Championships was not only a chance to exchange skills, but also an opportunity to get together with old and new players. Therefore, Jiang Zhaozhao made great efforts before the event, and was either in training or on the way to training. He said: "My dream is to play table tennis until the age of 100 and make friends from all over the world."
