The Organizing Committee for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 (hereinafter referred to as HAGOC) looked into Xiangshan's venue-oriented projects on May 13, speaking highly of Xiangshan's preparation of the Asian Games.

Among 57 sports venues for Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games, Ningbo Yafan Center undertakes the venue for sailing races and Ningbo Banbianshan Beach Volleyball Base undertakes the venue for the beach volleyball competitions.

Yafan Center

Yafan Center is divided into competition training center, ports and other zones. With the theme of "Energetic Ocean", the night floodlighting is applied to create a dreamlike optical effect of different colors, such as yellow, green, blue and purple. It resembles the movement of the ocean. Regarded as a new pearl along the "most beautiful coastline at 30°N", the center will become a new night view landmark in Xiangshan featured with Asian Games elements. The construction started in November 2018 and finished at the end of March 2021. IT and security equipment will be inspected at the end of June.

The sailing races of the 14th National Games will be held at Yafan Center from September 7 to 19 this year. Sticking to the guideline of "economical  planning", most of the sports equipment are rented. Since the races will be held in mid-September, which is close to the sailing races of Hangzhou Asian Games in the following year, the meteorological data collected during the competition will be of great help in forecast. Besides, hardware supporting facilities, functional rooms and stream distribution will all be tested.

Sand beach at Xiangshan County, Ningbo

The construction of the main venue of the beach volleyball base started in April 2019 and finished at the end of March 2021. This C-shape semi-open sports venue can accommodate 2,000 audience. The secondary sports venue can accommodate 500 audience. Besides, there are two warming-up areas and three training areas. The beach volleyball is the only competition that audience in Ningbo Division can see on site from the start to the end. Test events will be held in April 2022 at the beach volleyball base according to the preliminary plan.

The renovation of Xiangshan Asian Games Sub Village will finish and be inspected in December 2021.

In order to achieve the strategic goal, that is, all the preparations for Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games should be basically done within 2021,  Xiangshan Organizing Office has put great effort into the venue-oriented projects.

The first group of leaders with regards to venue management will be officially appointed by HAGOC in May. Most of them are from Yafan Center, where test events will be held this year. An early-stage team of 10 members will form later. After that, HAGOC will organize centralized training and conduct the compiling work of venue operation plan and the organization of test events.

The preliminary plan of the venue operation will be made after the venue operation team forms, deciding the functional division and stream distribution and realizing "one plan for each venue" preliminarily. Zhejiang Province sailing judge training class will be organized to prepare professionals for sailing races of the Asian Games and the National Games. Operation plan and organizing work for the testing competitions will be conducted. Besides, a group will be sent to different sports centers to gain useful experience and experts and leaders will be invited here to inspect on site and give proper advice.

Furthermore, guarantee plans for traffic, logistics, catering and security will be specified and be put into practice. The volunteer services department of HAGOC and Ningbo colleges will get involved to make an overall plan of the volunteering service. An Asian Games Volunteer Training Cooperation Base will be set up to provide excellent volunteering services in four aspects, namely competition management, team management, organization structure adjustment, and urban civil administration. Besides, the second version of the budget will be accomplished, following the guideline of "economical planning". Meanwhile, the guarantee work outside the venues will also be conducted steadily.
