Energy Conservation Month Kicked off over the City

July 10 to 16 is the 33rd National Energy Conservation Week in China, and the period from July 10 to August 9 is named the city's Energy Conservation Month. The launch ceremony of 2023 Hangzhou Energy Conservation Month and the awarding for energy conservation songs, in the name of "Let's Save Energy and Carbon Together", were held on July 10.

The countdown from five to one, coupled with the "water of life" being slowly pouring into the "eco-tree" that symbolizes energy conservation and carbon reduction to light up its leaves, marked the opening of the 2023 Hangzhou Energy Conservation Month. The event is jointly organized by the Municipal Government Affairs Management Bureau and the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, aiming to create an energy-saving and low-carbon atmosphere, make an exemplary role of governments in energy conservation, and encourage the public to live a green, low-carbon, and healthy life.

The Week this year features an energy-saving song collection call. It solicited self-compiled songs and short music videos. The call for entries received active response from individuals, groups, and relevant organs writing lyrics and songs about energy conservation, environmental protection, and low-carbon. Awards were given to winners of the contest, such as "Save the Blue", "Tomorrow, A Better Tomorrow", "In Hangzhou", "Energy Saving Makes a Paradise", "Little Hands", and "The Song of Nature", and they were put on the stage after the awarding.

"The practices for a green and low-carbon life is great for our future," said an official from Municipal Government Affairs Management Bureau, for energy conservation in local authorities is a critical part of the "Green Hangzhou" action. Over the recent years, the Municipal Government Affairs Management Bureau, as the city's energy conservation administrator, has continuously played a role model in energy conservation and carbon reduction. As the Asian Games is approaching, the two organizers also called on the public servants of the city to take the lead in starting with trivial things. They are expected to save energy, acquire energy-saving awareness, and make it a lifestyle, calling for "a clean (no waste) Asian Games" and creating a greener environment.

During the month, the Municipal Government Affairs Management Bureau will work with other departments of the city to advertise energy conservation through various online or offline events.
