Smart AI Content Workshop Kicked off

In data-centered age, AI content generation is a hot topic for integrated media process. The inauguration of the short video AI production experimental workshop of Hangzhou Culture & TV Group marks the completion of China's first AI assembly line that encompasses the planning, interviewing, copywriting and news releasing.

"Just input something you want, you can quickly get a short video with copywriting, dubbing, visuals, and background music." An outcome of such AI assembly line is "Champions AI for the Asian Games", the country's first AI-made short film. The program is co-hosted by the digital avatar of an anchor from the Group and that of a sport champion. The figures hosting the program look very close to real people in terms of facial expression, voice and emotion. It is a new model of program production that features one-time data collection and unlimited content generation.

"We use the cutting-edge algorithm models and our own audio and video databases. It's high tech and hits the scenario point straight. We've been making great progress," said Song Jianwu, a professor and Ph.D supervisor at Renmin University of China and an advisor to New Media Professional Committee of the China Writers Association. Based on a comprehensive understanding of the short video production process and requirements, the smart line has developed a language model, and completed the research and development of innovative modules such as text-driven super-real voice generation, super-real digital AI anchor generation, smart media AI retrieval, and text-driven video AI editing, etc. This is a giant leap from handwriting to smart video production.

"In the future, the smart line will be fully used for the content production of TV and phone screens. It will be a systematic platform with different scenarios where users and industrial partners' needs can be scarified," said Geng Weidong, director of the Science and Art Integration Research Center of Zhejiang Laboratory. The construction of experimental workshops and the creation of high-energy artificial intelligence collaborative platforms require joint efforts of multiple parties. With tech advances shared, research findings will be transformed for daily use. A co-built and shared platform will be in place.

It is understood that the AI workshop will take technology as the breakthrough to lay foundations for the national (Hangzhou) short video base. China Short Video Conference, a program jointly created by China Media Group, the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, is one of the most important programs when new ideas are being hatched. The program is scheduled to be on the air in the first ten days of July, and the public are welcome to watch it.
