On April 21, a networking event was organised in Binjiang District of Hangzhou, with international friends and leaders of expat communities invited to share stories about the Asian Games and Binjiang District.
The organiser showed foreign friends the construction process of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium (commonly known as the "Big Lotus", the performance venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Hangzhou Asian Games) through a video. They marveled at the speed and shared their feelings and suggestions about the Hangzhou Asian Games and the life and work in Binjiang.
Artem Shabalov, who has lived in China for nine years, said, "The opportunity brought by the Hangzhou Asian Games has greatly accelerated the city's development, especially Binjiang."
"The city of Hangzhou has given me a great sense of belonging and security," praised Walter Chevry, a kindergarten teacher.
Saboor Saeed and Marlon Niemeijer, both traveling lovers, are fans of Chinese culture and are keen on the Song Dynasty culture of Hangzhou. They are looking forward to introducing Hangzhou to more foreign friends during the Asian Games and showing them around the city together.
The sports event not only brings together friends worldwide to experience the charm of sports, but also enables them to gain insights into the culture and development of the host city.
