Tennis is a sport played between two players which is known as singles or between two teams of two players known as doubles.

Tennis can be played on grass, clay or other courts either inside or out. The tennis court is rectangular, with a length of 23.77m, a singles court width of 8.23m and a doubles court width of 10.97m.

Each player uses a strung racket to strike a hollow rubber ball covered in felt over a net into the opponent's court. The opponent will try to return the ball and it is allowed to bounce once before it is returned. If the ball bounces twice, the player who hit the ball before it bounced twice will get the points.

Tennis was first incorporated into the Olympic Games in 1988 and the Asian Games in 1958.

The tennis of the Hangzhou Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Tennis Centre from September 24 to September 30, and the athletes will compete for 5 gold medals.
