Yunnan canoe team gearing up for Hangzhou Asian Para Games at Qiandao Lake Base

At the recently-closed 2023 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, four athletes from the Chinese Para Canoe Team won tickets to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Para canoe includes both canoe and kayak, and Chinese atheletes participated for the first time in such events in Duisburg. Zhong Yongyuan from southwest China's Yunnan Province competed in the women's canoe VL3 class. She skipped the semi-finals by achieving third place in the preliminaries and advanced to the finals, in which, she secured fifth place and a "ticket" to the canoe event of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. She is the only athlete on the national team eligible for the women's canoe VL3 class at Paris Paralympics.

Yunnan team is undergoing intensive training at Qiandao (1,000-Island) Lake National Para Canoe Training Base in Zhejiang Province, for the final goal of triumph at Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
