To further enhance the accessibility of subways and buses, the Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation recently conducted trial rides in Hangzhou, aiming to test the effectiveness of accessible facilities and equipment and provide guidance for their improvement.
The Federation's experience team conducted comprehensive evaluations of various facilities and services for accessibility. They tested features such as tactile paving, accessible elevators, braille markings, accessible toilets, accessible service desks, accessible ticket gates, and self-service ticket machines. During the evaluation, they identified issues, including non-standard handrails in accessible toilets, insufficient wheelchair-turning space, and non-standard tactile paving settings.
The officials in charge of Hangzhou's public transportation and subway system have stated that they will seize this opportunity to carefully analyze the identified issues and make necessary improvements. They are committed to ensuring barrier-free travel for individuals with impairments and aim to contribute to the successful hosting of the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
