On the afternoon of May 24, at the "Exciting Hangzhou" 2023 China Para Athletics Championships, Xia Zhiwei, from Fuyang District, Hangzhou, won the men's shot put F41 finals with a score of 11.12 metres.

Xia Zhiwei once broke the Asian record of 9.52 metres with a score of 10.59 metres in the men's shot put F40 finals at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games. He won a silver medal in the men's shot put F41 event at the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games and a gold medal in the men's shot put F41 event at the 11th National Para Games of China & the 8th Special Olympic Games.

When asked about his chances of participating in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games, Xia Zhiwei expressed his self-confidence and his hope for good scores at the games to be held in his hometown.
