Located on the southwestern part of Jiande city of Hangzhou, Shangwufang village is surrounded by mountains and renowned for its Anhui-style architecture featuring multiple-layered and well-arranged apartment buildings. It is in the national list of historical and cultural villages, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
There are 165 ancient buildings of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the Republic of China era (1912-1949) in the village. A total of 65 of them are well-preserved. The village has multiple types of buildings with completed structure and layout. The core area of the village basically retains its original historical features.
Shangwufang village has been famous for its farming and reading heirlooms for generations. And the long history gave birth to rich and colorful culture.
