HANGZHOU—Wei Yi of China took gold in the Men's Individual Chess competition of Hangzhou Asian Games at Hangzhou Qi-Yuan (Zhili) Chess Hall on Wednesday, September 27.

"It's the first time I've taken part in the Asian Games, so I wanted to make sure my performance wasn't too bad," Wei said.

After winning gold, Wei will go to Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, for another match, and then return to his college life.
