Amid high-rise modern buildings in the Asian Games Village, an architectural complex stands out, carrying the charm of traditional Chinese architecture in Jiangnan (meaning south of the Yangtze River in China). Featuring white exterior walls, dark-coloured overhanging eaves, and scattered yet orderly building unit arrangement, this complex is simple yet elegant, like a part of an attractive ink painting.

During the Games time, it will function as a maintenance and operation centre for the facilities deployed in the Asian Games Village.

Liao Xiaohua, chief designer of this architectural complex, noted, "The Asian Games is a window for China and Hangzhou to showcase themselves to the world. When athletes walk around the Asian Games Village and come across such distinctive architecture, which is full of traditional Chinese characteristics, they will surely be deeply impressed and fascinated by the Chinese traditional culture."

This architecture is a miniature of the traditional Jiangnan village, with winding alleys meandering between building units. The exterior wall colours are inspired by the palette of traditional Jiangnan architecture, and the roof design takes inspiration from traditional Chinese ink paintings. They form charming and characteristic scenery as a whole in contrast to modern buildings around.

After the Games, this architectural complex will be transformed and refurbished into a kindergarten, also a paradise for children to grow up.
