First-phase of qualification trials of Chinese Go team for Asian Games concludes

The final round of the first stage of the 2023 qualification trials of the national Go team for the Asian Games (Women's Group) ended recently at Quzhou International Go Cultural Exchange Centre in Zhejiang Province. So far, all those who are qualified for the second phase qualification trials of the national Go team for the Asian Games have been determined.
After the competitions on April 16, Fang Ruoxi, Wu Yiming, Tang Jiawen and Wang Yubo are qualified for the second phase of the women's team's qualification trials for the Asian Games. The second phase of the trials will be held in May in Tiantai, Zhejiang.
The first phase of women's qualification trials started on April 11 and ended on April 16. The first phase of men's qualification trials also closed on April 11. Li Qincheng, Yang Kaiwen, Zhao Chenyu and Mi Yuting are qualified to compete with Fan Tingyu and others for the six "tickets" to the Asian Games.
The first phase of both men's and women's qualification trials for the Asian Games are composed of seven rounds, with the top four advancing to the second phase together with those who made it out of last year's qualification trials. In the second phase, the ten players in the men's group will compete under a single round-robin system, while the eight players in the women's group will compete under a double round-robin point system. The top six in the men's group and the top four in the women's group will be qualified to represent China in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
In the men's group, Fan Tingyu, Ke Jie, Yang Dingxin, Gu Zihao, Li Xuanhao and Tuo Jiaxi made the cut last year, while in the women's group, Yu Zhiying, Zhou Hongyu, Li He and Lu Minquan were the top four last year.
