What's your expectation to sports? No one can give a better answer except Song Maodang, a Paralympic Champion from Tonglu County, Hangzhou. Song Maodang lost his right arm in an accident when he was eight years old. Later, he relied on swimming to unlock the meaning of life and make his own wonderful life.

The accident forced eight-year-old Song Maodang to feel inferior. After he successfully entered the high school, swimming became his favorite and strongest sport. In the swimming pool, he went all the way, and became the National Champion, Asian Champion and even Paralympic Champion, with countless honors. Sports helped the one-armed youth regain his confidence.
As a result, sports became a part of his life. After retirement, he was admitted to Tonglu County Youth & Children's Centre, engaged in the youth sports teaching activities. He launched the comprehensive practical activity themed by safety & self-protection education, life skills and labor practice in the Youth & Children's Center, and used his own experience to encourage the contemporary young people to bravely face life, so as to inject fresh power into education.

After working for education career, he enjoyed the process of being helpful, and began to integrate his own unique experience into the activity of helping others. In 2020, he went to Daliang Mountain for four times to help the local children improve their swimming conditions, and gave the formal training and guidance at the same time. On April 1 this year, through the selection, he became the representative of the pre-recruited volunteers for the Asian Games (Tonglu Competition Zone). Song Maodang who became the volunteer contributed more than others. He used to participate in the international events, so he had a certain English foundation, and better understood the competition process and the needs of different participants, so as to make great contributions to the improvement of pre-competition services.
From an athlete to a physical education teacher and a volunteer for the Asian Games, Song Maodang uses different identities to express his love for sports, hoping to make more people feel the happiness brought by sports.
