Asian Games Venue Builders: Profession and persistence in high temperature
The West Lake International Golf Course is the venue for holding the golf event of the Asian Games. In hot summer with high temperature, how is the grass growing there?
In the putting green area of the golf course, the workers use POGO (Soil Moisture Meter) to measure the moisture uniformity of the green surface every day. The measurement results directly form the drawings, and the workers carry out the point-to-point manual water replenishment according to such drawings. There is also a big fan to help the grass grow slowly. At dawn, the workers exquisitely start trimming in the putting green area. In the fairway area of the golf course, the grass mower is being operated. On the other side of the fairway, the workers are paving sand under the scorching sun. In the golf course surrounded by green mountains, "Asian Games people" don't miss a trace of weeds under the blazing sun.
Wu Yingyu, the venue affairs director of the West Lake International Golf Course, has been working in the course since its construction, and has been with the golf course for 23 years. At present, the promotion and reconstruction work of the West Lake International Golf Course is drawing to a close. The golf competition of Hangzhou Asian Games will be held here. He said: "My team and I are looking forward to the arrival of the Asian Games. We will greet the Asian Games together with the green grass of the course."
