A Chinese tunic suit's journey of the Asian Games from the bid to the hosting
On June 23, Zhang Hongming, the former deputy secretary of the CPC Hangzhou Committee and the former mayor of Hangzhou City, handed over a Chinese tunic suit to Chen Weiqiang as the deputy secretary general of Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee and the deputy mayor of Hangzhou City.
"This is the suit that I wore when I made the presentation on Hangzhou Asian Games Bid in Ashkhabad as the capital of Turkmenistan on September 16, 2015. Now, I donate it to Hangzhou Asian Games Exhibition Hall." Zhang Hongming said: "The Asian Games Bid is 'chasing the dream' and the hosting of the Asian Games is 'realizing the dream'. From the site of the Asian Games Bid to the Asian Games Exhibition Hall, this Chinese tunic suit's experience is the journey of 'chasing the dream' for Hangzhou to hold the large-scale international sports event."
The delegation members who met on the bid site in Ashkhabad that year gathered again at Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee to recall the past and look at the present. The "only" Chinese tunic suit brought everyone's thoughts back to seven years ago….
It went to Turkmenistan to "chase the dream".
On September 15, 2015, Zhang Hongming, the mayor of Hangzhou City at that time, led Hangzhou Asian Games Bid Delegation to fly to Ashkhabad.
At 9:30 on the morning of September 16 (Local Time), Hangzhou Asian Games Bid Delegation started to make the presentation to the representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia. On behalf of Hangzhou Municipal Government and citizens, Zhang Hongming, dressed in a Chinese tunic suit, expressed the determination, ability and expectation to host the Asian Games 2022. At 1:00 pm (Beijing Time)/10:00 am (Turkmenistan Time), the Olympic Council of Asia announced that Hangzhou (China) won the right to host the Asian Games 2022. The thunderous applause broke out on the site.
It entered Hangzhou Asian Games Exhibition hall to "realize the dream".
"Hangzhou Asian Games Exhibition Hall" is an important milestone in the preparations for the Asian Games, an important carrier for telling the stories of the Asian Games and Hangzhou City and carrying forward the sportsmanship, and an important public space for citizens to enjoy the dividends of the Asian Games. In the near future, Zhang Hongming's Chinese tunic suit will be exhibited here, and its journey of the Asian Games to "realize the dream" will continue.
