On May 12 (Beijing Time), the Official Website of China Volleyball Association announced the list of 24 players participating in the Nations League held this year. Blocker Yuan Xinyue would act as the captain of the National Women's Volleyball Team. She would take over the baton of Zhu Ting to shoulder the responsibility of the captain, becoming the fourth deputy captain as the blocker in the history of Chinese Women's Volleyball Team.

The Chinese Women's Volleyball Team only retained three Olympic champions, such as Ding Xia, Yuan Xinyue and Gong Xiangyu, in the absence of two ace spikers (Zhu Ting and Zhang Changning) at the postoperative recovery stage. Considering the age, ability, qualification and character of the players accepting the training, it was expected that Yuan Xinyue would serve as a captain.
Yuan Xinyue was the first player of the New Chinese Women's Volleyball Team to participate in the Global Top 3 Major Events. In the World Championships 2014, Xu Yunli was accidentally injured in the competition, and Yuan Xinyue was entrusted with a mission at a critical and difficult period to help the team win the runner-up of the World Championships after 16 years. Later, Yuan Xinyue grew into the backbone of the team and has been with Chinese Women's Volleyball Team for many years.
From a young player to a veteran player and a captain, Yuan Xinyue has shouldered more and more responsibilities. After the succession, there will be a vital test for this new captain.
