Lou Yun was born in Hangzhou in 1964. His name left an indelible mark on the golden generation of Chinese gymnastics. During his sports career, he won more than 40 gold medals in horse-vaulting, regarded as the well-deserved "Vault King".
When Lou Yun was a member of Chinese Gymnastics Team, his teammates were Li Ning, Li Yuejiu, Tong Fei, Huang Yubin…and each of these names was the representative personage of Chinese Men's Gymnastics. In such a team, Lou Yun was also a star that cannot be ignored.
In the Olympic Games Seoul 1988, Lou Yun was stable just like a nail stuck in the ground during the horse-vaulting competition. He got 9.975 scores due to his vault. Many years later, the highlights of that game can still be seen on various video platforms.
This gold medal in the horse-vaulting event of Seoul Olympic Games was Lou Yun's proud achievement. Before the horse-vaulting finals, Chinese Delegation only won one gold medal in diving, so Lou Yun's gold medal in horse-vaulting was of great significance.
Although the achievements made in the Olympic Games were eye-catching, the Asian Games New Delhi 1982 that was held 40 years ago meant even more to Lou Yun. That was to say, this event was the first event for 18-year-old Lou Yuan in his life.
Lou Yun as a substitute participated in the competition because the player was ill at that time. Looking back, Lou Yun was very grateful to himself when he was 18 years old. He made the excellent performance in that competition and won one gold medal in horse-vaulting. In the team, Lou Yun also got the third place in individual all-round. He sighed with emotion that, the unexpected opportunity in the Asian Games made him become a first-tier player to achieve his existing honors.
