Hangzhou Asian Games Squash Court: A "Crystal Palace" hidden in the exhibition hall

Hangzhou Asian Games Squash Court is rebuilt from the original 4D exhibition hall of Hangzhou International Expo Centre. A few days ago, the squash court underwent the first stress test.

As one of main colors of the Asian Games, "Lake-mountain Green" is the primary color of the hall of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Squash Court. There are 8 standard glass courts for international events in the venue. Every court is surrounded by four glass walls, three of which are transparent blue, which matches "Lake-mountain Green" perfectly.

The glass walls are made of one-way perspective glass, so that the athletes are not affected by spectators who can watch the competitions in 360 degrees. "Such a court is usually called 'Crystal Palace' in the squash industry," said Qin Jiahui, an assistant coach of Zhejiang Squash Training Centre.

The design and construction of the squash court has fully implemented the "Green, Smart, Economical and Ethical" concept of Hangzhou Asian Games. It is said that the construction team adopts a "modular" unit construction model. The materials are modeled with the BIM technology, designed to fit for the load-bearing and size of elevators. Then they are transported into the venue piece by piece to carry out the assembly. The materials that will be removed in the future can be reused after maintenance to avoid waste. A lot of facilities and equipment adopt the form of "leasing instead of buying", which can not only save costs, but also restore the original exhibition hall function within the shortest time after the Asian Games.
Next, the squash court will greet "Exciting Hangzhou" National Squash Team Championships & Asian Games Squash National Training Team Trials 2022. Through the competitions, the venue operation team will carry out the comprehensive stress test for the venue while accumulating experience.
