The general competition schedule for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 (First Edition) was officially released.

The general competition schedule (daily competition schedule) has become one of the major concerns of all walks of life ever since Hangzhou won the bid to host the 19th Asian Games.

The 3rd Coordination Committee Meeting, 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was held virtually on 8th September, 2020. The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee (HAGOC) summited the first edition of competition schedule.

HAGOC makes compact arrangement complying with international conventions and meanwhile makes certain improvements according to the tenet of “economical planning” and the requirements from relevant sports organizations. The competition schedule for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 (First Edition) has been made and officially released based on the estimated number of applicants.

This is the preliminary schedule. The final edition released before the Games should prevail.

Hangzhou Asian Games, to be held from 10th to 25th September, 2022, will feature 40 sports, encompassing a total of 61 disciplines, including swimming, archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, canoeing, dragon boat, mind sports, cricket, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, handball, field hockey, judo, kabaddi, modern pentathlon, rowing, roller sports, rugby sevens, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, sport climbing, squash, breakdancing, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, and martial arts.

It is estimated that a total of 482 gold medals will be handed out during the 15 competition days.

The first event on the schedule is men’s football, which will kick off on 6th September. Archery and artistic swimming competitions will be held on the last day.

The first edition shows that athletes will compete for gold medals in swimming, modern pentathlon, rowing, artistic gymnastics, judo, wushu, and other sports on 11th September, the first competition day after the opening ceremony.

Athletics tops the ranking of single sports with the most gold medals with 48 gold medals, followed by swimming (41 gold medals) and archery (33 gold medals). Gold medals will be handed out on every competition day in 16 disciplines, including athletics, swimming, cycling, triathlon, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, breakdancing, judo, ju-jitsu, kurash, wushu, weightlifting, karate, fencing, taekwondo, and dragon boat.

The competition schedule is a systematic project that requires dynamic adjustment. HAGOC’s next step is to adjust and update the general schedule, unit schedule, event schedule and other contents according to the actual number of applicants confirmed by the Olympic committee delegations of different countries and regions, the broadcasting rules of Asian Games, and the adjustment of event setting schemes.
