Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Base, a provincial-level key project and part of Hangzhou Asian Games, passed the final joint inspection on March 30 and will be put into pilot run before May according to the plan.

The joint inspection was conducted in the afternoon by the Government Affairs Service Center, Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Suboffice of Natural Resources and Planning, Water Conservancy Bureau, Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau, Ecological Environment Suboffice, Municipal Pipeline Construction Maintenance Center, and other administrations in Ouhai, Wenzhou. Venues and outdoor landscape projects were inspected.

The design of the base is inspired by Chinese dragon, winding Oujiang River, and rolling mountains in Wenzhou, which reflect how friendly and noble-minded Wenzhou people are and show the fighting spirit of dragon boat competitions. Take a bird's-eye view and you will find all planes and facades of the architectures adopt smooth, gentle lines, bringing an elegant hyperboloid.

Located at Louqiao Block, Ouhai District, Wenzhou, the base covers a total area of 23,800 square meters, including the terminal tower, comprehensive venue, dragon watching platform, corridor, green square, and other facilities.

The contractors are Wenzhou CSCEC Olympic Project Management Co., Ltd. and China Construction Science and Industry Corporation Ltd. PPP model is applied.

It took 518 days for the project, which started on October 29, 2019, to be completely finished and accepted. The main structure was finished 14 days earlier than scheduled in spite of limited construction space, rain, pandemic, typhoon and other negative factors. All rules for the prevention and control of Covid-19 were obeyed and the quality of the project was perfectly guaranteed.

The base will become the most professional venue for dragon boat competitions in China. It will serve as the main venue of the dragon boat competitions of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
