The Renovation and Upgrading Project of the Sports Venue at Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University Passes the Final Inspection

The renovation and upgrading project of the sports venue at Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University (basketball venue of Hangzhou Asian Games) passed the final inspection on the morning of March 29, 2021.

The inspection was conducted by representatives from five units – Zhejiang University, EPC, design unit, exploration unit, and supervision unit – under the supervision of Hangzhou Construction Project Quality and Safety Supervision Station.  

The inspection team checked engineering data carefully and made overall review of the structure, decoration engineering, equipment installation, practical function of the architecture, and other aspects.

All units agreed that the project met every single standard and thus the sports venue at Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University (basketball venue of Hangzhou Asian Games) passed the final inspection.

The renovated venue covers a total area of 16,954 square meters, including 12,969 square meters overground and 3,985 square meters underground. The highest distance from cornice to the ground reaches 10.52 meters. It can accommodate 5,307 audience at the same time.

The sports process sticks to the standards for international competitions and the whole construction process relies on BIM modelling technology, which provides real 3D rendering for display and promotion, virtual construction, effective collaboration, collision check, lessened rework, and decision support. The application of BIM technology helps lower the cost, improve the efficiency, shorten the construction period, and promote the management level.

Professional sports flooring system is imported to meet the requirements of Asian Games competitions.

Since Hangzhou Asian Games basketball team competitions will be held here, Zhejiang University will get prepared for the Asian Games test matches in 2021.
