Xiacheng District received the assignment to offer venues and facilities for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 at the beginning of 2021 as the lighthouse unit in the district had been decided as the official eSports arena for the Asian Games. It is next to Hangzhou Xintiandi, separated by Shixiang Elevated Road.
The construction of the eSports arena has been going at full blast since the day the assignment was given. The management committee of Xiacheng District Digital Economy Industrial Park in charge of the project organized management staff and workers to stay at the construction site during the Spring Festival, sparing no effort to accelerate the construction to make sure the project can be finished with high quality on 31st October.
The project started from 24th September, 2020. All pile foundation work has been done, 60% of basement construction has been completed, and 800 tons of steel structures have been lifted up by far. Now a 14-meter-high steel structure has risen from the ground, showing the high efficiency and reliable style of work of Xiacheng’s first-class construction team. The overall progress of the project is about half a month ahead of the schedule.
China's first professional eSports arena meeting the standards of Asian Games, Xiacheng District eSports Arena will be built into a world-leading eSports arena which is “digital”, “intelligent” and “professional”.
Based on the concept of “interstellar vortex”, the arena covers a total area of about 80,000 square meters and accommodates up to 4,087 seats. Sticking to the idea of “For the Asian Games during the event; for the city after the event”, the arena not only meets the demands of Asian Games competitions but takes after-competition use into consideration through fine planning and careful layout. It will become the first choice for top-level domestic and overseas eSports competitions and an important window to show the characteristics and image of Hangzhou, having a far-reaching influence on the development of eSports industry in Hangzhou.
