World Rowing Championships ends, China earns 8 Olympic and Paralympic tickets

BELGRADE, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese rowers and para-rowers clinched two medals and eight Olympic and Paralympic berths at the 2023 World Rowing Championships, which concluded here on Sunday.

The Netherlands, Britain, and Italy led the medal tally.

On the final day of the championships at Lake Ada Ciganlija in the Serbian capital, Chinese para-rowers added two more Olympic qualifications in the PR1 women's single and women's double sculls categories.

Overall, the Chinese team earned one silver in the PR2 mixed double sculls with Liu Shuang and Jiang Jijian and one bronze in the women's quadruple sculls featuring Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lyu Yang, and Cui Xiaotong. They finished 13th in the overall rankings.

Both the Netherlands and Britain had six golds apiece, with the Netherlands adding three silvers and Britain winning one silver and two bronzes. Italy followed in third with three golds, four silvers, and one bronze.

China's Olympic and Paralympic qualifications include placements in the women's quadruple sculls (3rd), women's four (6th), women's lightweight double sculls (6th), women's double sculls (10th), men's double sculls (6th), PR2 mixed double sculls (2nd), PR1 women's single sculls (6th), and PR3 mixed coxed four (6th).
