WTA Tour makes historic debut in Ningbo
On July 26, the signing ceremony for the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Ningbo Open took place in Ningbo, Zhejiang, marking the inaugural hosting of this prestigious international tennis event in the city and its return to China after a four-year hiatus.
During the ceremony, Steven Simon, the Chief Executive Officer at WTA, delivered a video speech. He expressed his excitement over Ningbo becoming a significant stop on the WTA Tour and eagerly anticipated meeting everyone at the event.
Scheduled to take place from September 25 to 30 at the Ningbo (Yinzhou) Tennis Centre, the WTA Ningbo Open has already received overwhelming interest from over 100 WTA-registered professional female tennis players who have expressed their intention to participate. Among the confirmed participants is the two-time Wimbledon champion, Petra Kvitova.
