Kuwait, July 12, 2019: The Olympic Council of Asia has announced the dates and host city of the annual Regional Forums conducted in cooperation with the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity.
Bangkok will host both forums for all five OCA zones over four days in early November.
National Olympic Committees from East Asia and South East Asia will meet on November 3-4.
National Olympic Committees from West Asia, Central Asia and South Asia will hold their regional forum on November 5-6.
The forums are being organised in collaboration with the IOC NOC Relations Department.
As was the case for Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016, the forums held in the year preceding the Olympic Games will be dedicated to NOCs’ preparations for their participation in the Games.
Building on last year’s workshop focusing on the elements to shape a team for the Olympic Games, the forums will target the IOC and Tokyo 2020 policies, procedures and plans to prepare the teams for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The organisers are inviting two delegates from each NOC: the Chef de Mission of the team for Tokyo 2020 and a staff member responsible for the daily administration of the NOC’s delegation.
NOCs are asked to register their two delegates by July 20, after which the IOC and Tokyo 2020 will review the delegates submitted and confirm their participation in the forum.
Once confirmed, these delegates will be asked by the IOC NOC Relations Department to contribute before and during one or several working sessions.
