Establishment of the Organising Committee for the 19th Asian Games
The Inauguration Ceremony of the Organising Committee for the 19th Asian Games 2022 (HAGOC) was held in Hangzhou, on April 9. Xia Baolong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, and Liu Peng, Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and HAGOC President, are unveiling the organization together.
Following the Inauguration Ceremony, the First Session of the HAGOC Executive Board was held. On behalf of the GASC and the Chinese Olympic Committee, Liu Peng congratulated on the establishment of HAGOC. He expressed the hope that the Executive Board will be steadfast and meticulous in Games preparations relying on strong HAGOC teamwork, and eventually stage a high-level edition of the Games with distinctive features to live up to the expectations of people in China and Asia, as well as the region’s Olympic Family.
Li Qiang, Governor of Zhejiang Province and Co-President of HAGOC, stated that Zhejiang would mobilise province-wide resources in preparations for a “green, smart, economical and ethical sports gala”. He asked that HAGOC should give full play to the city’s strengths and charm in its preparations. He called for delivering a “fantastic, successful and unforgettable sports gala” for six years of efforts.
Moreover, Luo Xuejuan, the Olympic champion from Zhejiang Province, and He Jun, an ethic role model of Hangzhou, also spoke at the Inauguration Ceremony.
At the First Session of the Executive Board, Board members reviewed matters related to the organisational structure, regulations and work schedules of HAGOC.
